A LONG HISTORY

Franklin Cider Mill has a long standing history in the local community, and they wanted to showcase that with a stylized history wall and timeline to display opposite their famous water wheel. Spanning nearly 200 years, I delved into the history and aimed to keep the historic look and feel alive while reaffirming the Franklin Cider Mill as a family centered gathering place.

History Wall + Timeline

Franklin Cider Mill has been a fixture in the local community's fall festivities for nearly 200 years. I was tasked with showcasing their history and presenting in a family friendly, easy to digest and authentic way.

I was able to find some historic photos, courtesy of the Detroit Free Press and some other local historians and photographers. Adding historic visuals made Franklin Cider Mill more authentic to it's visitors, since little-to-no outward changes have been made to the mill since the 1930's (save for some electricity and modern cashiers tills).

The new History Wall and Timeline has become a new favorite, and nearly every visitor who stops by Franklin Cider Mill sees it, as it is situated across from one of their main attractions - the original water wheel, still powering the apple press to make cider.

Visitors of all ages get to learn about the Mill's history, and even visitors who have come for generations walk away with more appreciation for the Mill and its historic hold on autumn.
